At the corner of Buffalo's Main Street and E. Balcolm Street, Mid City Apartments, formerly home to Allied Household Storage, stands as a vibrant beacon. This 10-million-dollar project features commercial spaced as well as 50 apartment homes. Mid City, among its other luxurious features and amenities, is the first apartment home building in Buffalo to premiere an indoor dog park.
Mid-City is iconic in numerous ways, but the most influential iconography is the large mural on the side of the apartment home building.
"Metamorphosis #5" by Tavar Zawacki, when completed was the largest mural in Western New York and of Zawacki's extensive career. This vibrant and unique mural is based on Zawacki's signature motif - the upward arrow. He views the upward arrow as a display "of the powerful mentality to rise above fears, challenges, and anything holding you back from your goals...everything is possible!"
